I just typed the words, “Beth Rudy, President” on a proposal. For the first time. It felt a little weird. It’s surreal to think I’m here, living something I’ve always dreamed of doing.
Thanks in large part to leaders like Melanie, Edwin and Kevin who believed in me and gave me the opportunities to grow. I’ll never forget, many years ago, when I was trying to schedule my former mentor and manager, Paul, for a leadership retreat with his senior leaders. He asked, “Why can’t Beth do it?”
I made some excuses, but Edwin, from the leadership team, didn’t accept my reasoning. “You’ve raised kids haven’t you?” he asked me. I nodded yes. “Then, you can relate to my team.”
Paul said, “You’re right. She can do it!”
Talk about a defining moment!
Fast forward to today. Beth Rudy Consulting is now a complete reality. Becoming the president is a little like learning to walk in high heels. It’s fun and adventurous, but a little awkward at first.
I am grateful to all the people who, like high heals, have lifted me physically and emotionally, while encouraging me to hold my head high and my standards higher. Now I’m in a position to transform lives, affect leaders, change team dynamics, and make a greater impact on the world.
